Stefan is officially unredeemable in my eyes. (+my opinion on Twilight comparisons.)
Usually I say tiny rants about things I don’t like on shows and then I go on about my real life, but this… I have to vent.
What Stefan did in this episode was UNFORGIVABLE. It truly was. I lost ALL respect for him after 3x11. I may not be a S/E fan, but I was rooting for him to at least find himself, ripper or not. Just find out who he really is and what he needs, without running from it any longer, without making excuses or throwing pity parties. But now, I honestly do not care if they kill him off.
Putting all of his mental, emotional and physical abuse toward Elena in the past aside, this was IRREVERSIBLY WRONG. I do not care what kind of point he was attempting to make to Klaus, there were other ways to “kill” her if he was going to, but he chose the ONE THING that has absolutely tortured Elena’s mindset. He was there, he knew what happened to her, how gutwrenching that acceptance has been for her and for Jeremy. He chose the bridge where her parents died and where she almost died too. He put her life in serious danger. He took her choice from her (way worse than Damon ever did - Damon was trying to keep her there!!). He was selfish, cruel, uncombative and just plain fucking ignorant. And THEN after everything was done, when she questioned why on earth he would ever do that to her, he was STILL cold and cruel to her!!! He has no sense of remorse, no apology in sight from him. He has disgusted me. I swear, if Elena forgives him easily I will flip. AND NO ONE ON EARTH can say he was compelled. This was his choice. This is the true him.
And the writers having Damon defend Stefan = NO. NO NO NO. That is wrong and completely out of character. Stefan really tortured Elena and seriously almost turned her to prove a fucking point, and Damon would NEVER go for that!!!!!! OMG that pisses me off. If it were ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD, family or not, Damon would have their head on a stick and their heart on the damn ground. I just… there are no words. Elena should NEVER go back to this man. I’ve hated him for her ever since he started screwing with her head and her emotions in Season 1, and then the physical abuse drew a line in the sand, and now this? Yep. Stefan is not redeemable in my eyes.

And this is why it has royally pissed me off when fans of both Twilight and TVD question how Edward/Bella fans can like Damon for Elena and not Stefan. THIS IS THE BIGGEST EXAMPLE OF WHY. Edward would never ever purposely hurt Bella, emotionally, physically, or mentally. He would never strip her of her choices. He would never destroy her life like this!!! He would never intentionally make her feel ashamed or guilty or disgusted with herself. He left Bella for what he thought was her own good and own safety and even though he said a few lies during the breakup to get her to believe him, it was NEVER to the extent Stefan has. Stefan is NOT stable and he never has been. He is clearly worse than Jacob. He’s more selfish, more cruel, more nasty and belligerent. He is more of an abuser than Jake. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND SHOULD EVER COMPARE STEFAN TO EDWARD AGAIN. If anything, Damon is more Edward than Stefan will ever dream of being. Damon LOVES her, all of her, no matter what childish choices she makes. All he wants for her to do is live and love and open her eyes. If Stefan’s choices in this last episode doesn’t get her to do it, I don’t know what the fuck will.
Ugh. I need to stop. This show is giving me a goddamn complex.
